In his landmark study in 1990 on the effect of walnuts on heart disease risk, Dr. Joan Sabaté, Chairman of the Department of Nutrition at Loma Linda University, established the link between nut consumption and favorable outcomes for cardiovascular health. Published in 1993 by the New England Journal of Medicine, the results from this study fostered addtional research on the role of nuts and health.
